Biography

This is just a "little" bit of information about me. My bio or background if you will. When I originally created this, I got the idea from my host Maki, for she had that and I had a text version of my schedule. ^^; So, this is just inspired by her. Also! This is an updated version of my previous one. @.@; I sat here and typed new stuff amongst the old and reworded a lot of it. ^^;
I was born on August 15, 1987 into a small city called Salem in the state of Oregon. My real name is not important. I have a lot of people online and in real life calling me Akiko, or other forms of Akiko. The name "Akiko" came from my Japanese I class with my friend Maki. ^_^ She went by Maki and so I was like ":O I want one..." so I nammed myself Akiko.

Akiko literally means "autumn child". Aki = Autumn; ko = child. I gave my self this name because I love Autumn! Even though school starts in the fall and I don't like that part of it too much I still love the season. Its warm and rainy. What could be better? XD;

I've been able to read for who knows how long. @_@; Since before pre-school I'm sure. Parents read to me all the time! :D I used to sit in my room when I was younger and read books to my self by the time I was actually in preschool. Yes they were little kid books but my favorite one (that I know of) was a difficult one! It was Dr. Suses A-B-C book! @_@ Might as well have been a tongue twister. X3;

I moved away from 2 of my closest friends a few months before my 6th (???) birthday and my parents had to bus me across town to finish sending me to kindergarden. I started up in the 1st grade in my second elementry school. I was a really quiet and shy person (hard to believe ne?) up until the 3rd grade when I slowly began to loosen up. My 3rd grade teacher was really awesome and was basically the class clown. He worked hard with me to loosen up and had my parents put me in TAG (Talented and Gifted) for that year since I was a little bit ahead of everyone. Expecially in my cursive which for a while there I could write better in cursive than I could in regular printing. Thats all changed now. BUT! One of our cursive exercises was in Japanese! X3; It was funny.. we had to write the numbers 1-10 in english (one, two, three... ect), in actual numbers (1, 2, 3...ect), in Japanese (ichi, ni, san...ect), and in kanji! I think this is when I really desided I wanted to learn Japanese. >.> Lets just say the number 5 is my favorite number in the world because of this. From that day on I vowed I'd learn the language (not knowing it was Japanese) where the number 5 was go! And thus I did~! :3 Oh... I also broke my left ankle this year. X3; And won first place in the Jog-a-thon! Hmmm... Oh! I also got a "bianator" this year... its like a retainer but it fills up your whole mouth... after having that for a while I got braces on my front four top teeth. :x Got them off after this school year...

The next year I was in a split class. A split class is a class that has 2 grades in it. For me it was a 3/4! Lets see... I kind of met Maki this year but... I don't remember anything from then. XD; I went back to my shy self again. Oo; The only thing I really remember about that year was: 1) we got Webster dictionaries from this Rotary company and we had a contest to see who could find a certain word first. Who ever found it first would get a dollar. o_o; I found it. XD;; I remember getting little notes from everyone around me saying congratulations! X3; It was really weird... *shrugs*. 2) My favorite sport was soccer.... though I thought that after I watched Weiss Kreuz my favorite sport was soccer. X3; It has been for years... and finally 3) We went on a weird "oregon trail" trip... thing. OH! Remember those braces I had back in the 3rd grade? Well, I was a weird child back then... and a lot of people in my 3rd grade class were in my 4th grade class so I brought my braces in for show and tell! xD;;

Nothing to special happened in the 5th grade. Well, thats actually when I started playing the clarinet! :D We used to have a band teacher at our school (part time) when I first started going there I think <.> but they met before school and you had to be in the 5th grade to join. So! :D We got a new band teacher during the second half of my 5th grade year and yeah... I play the clarinet still. Though, I did get my first pair of glasses this year... wrong perscription though and I didn't find this out until the next year. :x OH! But my glasses were SO cool. xD They were gold frames with snoopy on the side talking on a phone and it had the word "Hello!" on them. x3 The part that went behind my ears were kinda pinkish. At the end of this school year, the princepal asked my parents if they wanted me to be held back a year so I could be with people my age... @.@ I said no as I wanted to stay with my friends. ^_^

6th grade year litteraly nothing special. Oo; First year of middle school... blah. Though, during my English class of this year I was still having troubles seeing even though my teacher kept putting me close cause I kept complaining that I couldn't see. Finally she called my parents and told them to get my glasses checked. So, yeah... we got them fixed and *gasp* I could see again. ^^;;; Was in Intermediate band this year~ with 7th graders :O It was cool. xD; Nothing else too special about this year that I can remember. @.@;;

7th grade year I took the "expository wheel" as one of my electives and we got introduced to random subjects and what not. There was: a math one (was kinda fun actually...), sign language, keyboarding, annnnnnnnd *drum roll* JAPANESE! :D! So yes! After all of those years I had finally found the language I was determined to learn. Since it was only a 6 week class in the wheel I took Japanese 1 my 8th grade year! Well... <.> I guess something else interesting happened that year as well. X3; Ok, I had PE everyday after lunch and since I was a loner everyday after I finished eating I'd go in and sit in the bathroom by the locker room door (it was always locked). Ok, thats not the interesting part but! Along comes random 6th grader (love ya Sko! <3) who got fed up with me sitting there by my self everyday we started talking with eachother everyday and what not (btw... it was about Pokemon xD). X3; We slowly became friends! :D Also, I was in the advanced band this year with 8th graders! It was fun~ I think my band teacher already had the idea of putting me as a section leader the next year as one of my best friends in the band class was my section leader. x3

Now, Japanese 1 is where I re-met Maki. Yup. Japanese 1. Seating charts are my best friend in Japanese 1. *nods* Ok. Some how, when ever Luft-Sensei (Ms. Luft) made our seating chart we were ALWAYS next to eachother! XD;; ALWAYS! Sometimes she would even try moving us away from eachother but somehow... we still ended up next to eachother on the seating chart and she didn't notice until *after* we were all sitting down. *shrugs* She let us stay next to eachother. This is when my nick name Akiko started. So, then one random day at lunch. The "random 6th grader now 7th grader" walks up to me and says: "Come eat lunch with me! :D" X3;; Turns out it was Sko! Apparently Sko and Maki met a few days earlier and this was just after Maki and I met so yeah... we ate lunch with eachother everyday. I also met Sa in my Japanese 1 class. X3; 8th grade year is when I truly developed my "posse" per say. But the sad thing is... the whole posse is a grade lower than me! XD;; <.> sucky ne? Also, this year I was in Advanced Band again, but now as an 8th grader! But see... I can't play high notes that well on the clarinet (heh) so I played 3rd Clarinet and 2nd when needed. ^_^ But as we had a few first and second clarinets and two third (not counting me) I played 3rd most of the time. x3; So, a few days into the school year its time to choose section leaders! :D And asfter Mr. Koenig (our band teacher) makes the announcement at the end of class and lets us start putting away our instruments he comes up to me as I'm doing so and talks to me about being section leader, I said sure. ^_^ Well, one of the 1st clarinets (who was a 7th grader) went up and talked to him after she was done putting away her clarinet... and he explains to her that I'm already section leader. xD;;;; And she glared oh so much at me for the rest of the school year. :\ Didn't help that the group I ate lunch with she also ate with... See, she was mad as I played third clarinet and she played first. xD; oh well, she apparently got nicer the year after I left. :\

The next year was hard for me... I left all of my friends behind... all of them. T_T I mean I took my 8th grade friends with me but... T_T my posse was still in middle school. So, I went through my highschool year by note system! :D Yes... <3 Gotta love the "Maki Mail" and "Asako Mail - Maki Mail back up" X3; I gave them notes to give to Sa. And "Aki Mail" was mail going from me to them. XD; Yes... very funny... >.>a So.... made it through my Freshman year just fine. Was in the "concert" band (that had no concerts) for first semester and then got moved up to Advanced band second semester (as I didn't want to be in marching band thus I had to do that...) and I was reunited with friends again! X3 But also met some new friends~ Freshman year was ok... @_@ some how just barely made it through Science xD; Also, I went to North Salem High School.

And then came my sophmore year! *weeps bitterly* I was tranfered over to a different high school... across town (West Salem High School...). T_T Where I went to up through my senior year. XD; I went through my sophmore year almost bitterly since I hated the fact that the year I was going to go to school with my Nee-chan, Icchan, and Sa-chan again I was transfered! T_T And Sa's mom transfered her to my old high school just so she could go to school with Maki and Sko still! *weeps bitterly* But, I did make some close friends that year. DragonWing was one of them. Her name has gone through so many transformations just from me! XD; She said I could call her DragonWing or DW. I went with the first one for a bit but it became a mouthful in the hallway so I just went to DW. Yeah... a few months later her nick name changed to "Dubyah". XD; I called her DW and Dubyah most of my sophmore year until I started calling her Wing-chan which even still got shortened to Wing. X3; Also! My friend Kora (from elementry school AND Japanese 1) was going to the same high school as me! :D So we quickly became friends again. Lets see... her cousin (uncle whatever... <.>) Andrew went there too! :D I had my second semeseter Geometry class with him. X3; Through Wing (after I scared her during our first meeting... sorry Wing-tan x3) and a few other friends I made in band, I made it through~ Oh yeah~ Became my school's webmaster this year! One person coded it and another person designed it (both whom I knew...) but neither of them wanted to update (lazy bums...) sooooooo I became it. @.@; I don't even remember how it happened. I just remember sitting at my computer glaring at Flash while trying to do one of the tutorials that come in the program when I was called down by my teacher and I guess I got "talked" into becoming the webmaster. O_o; Not sure... It just magically happened xD

Junior Year... x_x I quit band. Couldn't stand the band teacher. Oh, XD; I played clarinet from 5th grade through the end of my sophmore year. Well, I did end up joining a community band. Community band was fun as our band director was. MR. KOENIG! XD From middle school! <3 twas great... :3 Anyway... I was talked into joining Colorguard instead by my friend's mom... while we were at Wallery's... (a pizza place...)! :D Pole Awarness! >3 Sorry... >.>a So... I went through colorguard enjoyed that a lot. There was 5 of us that first year... but was still fun. ^_^ We were close because of it. Took an AP class (o.o; never doing that again). AP Art History to be exact. :3 Took computer classes and spent one of them as the school webmaster for the second year in a row! :D <3 Lucky me~ Though... I didn't design the layout. :3 I just upload! ^^;; Took my second year of Geometry... (shut up), got closer with Andrew, Kora, Wing, oh! XD; And Steel-kun (forgot about him from last year) and Sana-chan (forgot about her from last year too...btw, her mom is the one who got me to join guard....). X3; Made some new friends... joined DnD (Dungeons and Dragons), and basically didn't feel so bitter about my high school anymore! :D Still missed all of my buddies at North, but now that I was actually living in West Salem it wasn't too bad... that and Wing had a Japanese Exchange student! Haruka was mucho fun... took art classes with her. *_* Such a good artist. xD She was crazy once you got to know her.

Towards the end of my senior year I applied with AFS (American Field Service... an exchange program) to go to Japan in March/April 2005. I went through my interview and everything was fine... buuuut Japan turned me down cause I have ADD (darn meds). But Thailand, my second choice, accepted me! Got accepted by thailand and found out I had a host family in November 2004...

April 2005 soon arrived and I was pulled away from my friends (save Maki as she was in Japan at this time and had been since July 2004...) and boyfriend to go to Thailand. It wasn't such a bad thing though as I enjoyed my year there very much. I lived in Uttaradit, Thailand from April 9, 2005 - February 19, 2006. Lived in Bangkok April 8, 2005 and February 20, 2006... I got home late on the 21st. ^__^;; Should have been home during the afternoon of the 21st but I missed my plane. -_- But hey! My luggage arrived on time. X_x; Geh... Though, during my stay in Thailand, my boyfriend and I split up... annnd my grandma was in a car accident, but lived! Yey! I'm glad about my grandma as she is my last grandparent... (note: this would be my mom's mom...) Oh well, otherwise things were good ^_^

At the end of March, I ended up going to the anime convention in Seattle, Washington (SakuraCon!) for my second time. It was much fun and I cosplayed as Selphie Tilmit from FFVIII! ^__^ I hope to do that again next year. During April I went on a road trip to eastern oregon with my dad to visit McNary Dam so he could fix some computers (it was work related... I went along for the ride...). Yet the most exciting thing that has happened to me is April 13 I turned in a job application to DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) for a temp job... April 14, I was called and the lady talked to me for a few minutes before asking me to come in for an interview on April 19. So, I went in and was interviewed. ^_^ Theeeeen.... April 21st I was called again and they talked to me to see if I had any other references @.@ (as I could only think of my old computer teacher who I was the webmaster for and my schools princepal who I worked with a few times....) but I didn't so they said ok... then a little bit later I get another call. ._. And. O.M.G. I was hired. xD I started on April 24th and have been working ever since~ Twas nice! *_*

I ended up quitting work towards the end of September of 2006 so that I could start college (which started the last week of September). I'm now in my 3rd Term... and it is currently Spring Term. I'm studying Visual Communications and will later on further my studies in Photography. I'm also currently living at home (still xD hey! It's free :P) and am sharing a bathroom with 3 other girls (until Friday April 20, 2007 when it goes back down to 2). They are my younger sister, our exchange student from Austria and a temporary exchange student from Germany. After the 20th of this month it will go back down to my sister and the exchange student from Austria. Our exchange student from Austria is living with us until June 24, 2007.

I'm also happily in a relationship right now with one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. I kill my time at school by hanging out with him and two other friends. They're Chris (my boyfriend), Peter, and Nny! ^__^ All very sweet people whom I'm extremely lucky to have met.
